‘LOOM’ is an aesthetically pleasing sub-collection created under an exclusive design collaboration between Podium and ‘Karl Malmvall’, a Swedish industrial designer behind many design objects of world-class brands, such as Step Stepladder and Wick Chair from Design House Stockholm.
As an industrial designer, Karl believes that the objects he creates should not
only meet aesthetic and functional demands but should also lend themselves to being successfully manufactured. Therefore, LOOM is literally a sub-collection invented with the same belief to meet the market demand perfectly.
Concept
Every product we offer in LOOM was meticulously designed to present “The Heritage of Scandinavian Modern Style” through the most pleasing combination of natural woven paper cord and high-quality solid ash according to the traditional pieces of furniture in the Scandinavian furniture industry.
Materials
Paper Cord
Paper cord is one of the sustainable materials used in furniture design because this kind of natural material does not cause any adverse effects on the environment and future generations and provides a nature of softness, consistent temperature, and good ventilation. Indeed, it also creates an interior atmosphere that looks soft and cozy.
The paper cord will last for many years without specialized care or maintenance compared to other materials. And whenever this kind of material is worn-out, it can get rewoven over and over so that you can use its paper cord furniture through generations. This quality reflects sustainability, promotes a better quality of living for human beings through furniture design, and raises the environmental friendliness of natural material woven by hands without bleaching or dyeing.
Ash Wood
High-quality ash wood used in LOOM is grown and maintained in a sustainable forest in the northern area of America. Ash is a high-impact resistant wood with natural light tones, suitable for various color options in furniture design. In addition, this type of solid wood is ideal for bending and clearly shows its unique natural patterns.
As a sustainable material, it ensures that all pieces of furniture from LOOM do
not cause any harm to nature and takes part in enhancing a healthier community for all users.
