CANE: CANE COLLECTION’S 8th ANNIVERSARY

Let’s celebrate the 8th successful year of all design pieces from CANE collection together.

Here and now, we will take everyone back to “the beginning” of our CANE collection, which brings back “woven rattan” to create contemporary furniture pieces with rounded shapes, distinguished styles and originality. This collection aims to provide a uniquely different experience for each user. With imported durable natural materials, design for many lifestyles and various color options, CANE has received a great response from our customers for almost a decade. It is exported to more than 150 countries worldwide and has official distributors in many countries such as America, Australia, South Korea and Malaysia.

8 years ago, Podium initiated this collection to make a difference in the modern furniture industry, attaching to the main principle of using natural materials. We collaborated with Worapong Manupipatpong and Ada Chirakranont of Atelier2+, two designers who are interested in architecture, art, craft and design, to create all the furniture in this collection. Eventually, we got pieces of solid wood furniture combined with natural rattan in unique rounded shapes, and we launched them in 2014.

Under the concept of “East meets West”, both designers invented every piece of the CANE collection to tell the story of the Orient through traditional Asian materials like “rattan”, mixed with Western design styles, namely Scandinavian design that focuses on simplicity and functionality. As a result, we can say that the CANE collection can genuinely create a balance between functions, beautiful rounded shapes, unique materials, and the comfort of contemporary furniture.

This collection ranges from compact dining chairs to large furniture such as wardrobes and beds. Therefore, it seems to be the solution for every room in your house.

We chose FSC certified ash wood imported from North America for the CANE collection to be a primary material. This kind of wood is high impact resistant and has bright tones suitable for making a variety of colors. In addition, ash is easy to bend and clearly shows its natural patterns, making it perfect for furniture that wants to reveal the wood grain. However, American black walnut wood is also an option our customers can choose for these pieces.

When combining ash wood and excellent rattan in the pieces of the CANE collection, we reach the furniture with “beauty” and “strength” that will stay with your house for a long time. Therefore, CANE is undoubtedly a fine design piece passed on from generation to generation.

“Bending” is a core production technique that Podium chose for CANE so that we can get every piece of furniture with a bent shape that is precisely what the designers want. The primary purpose of bending is to create the flowing lines of the furniture and beauty by minimizing wood joinery and replacing the wood joints with bent solid wood, and to prevent breakage and danger to our users since the furniture with many wood joints is more fragile and more prone to cracking than those made of bent solid wood like CANE items.

CANE collection comes with a variety of color options. They range from simple colors that add a touch of luxury to your space, such as Charcoal Black, to bright colors like Tropical Green, Dark Red, and Ocean Blue, making the CANE items match various interior styles of residence, hotels or restaurants.

In addition, some furniture models have the option of up to 3 different seat types: wood, fabric and leather.

The key points distinguishing our CANE pieces from other rattan furniture are detailing and finishing. For example, our woven rattan is inserted into the groove of each furniture part very carefully. As a result, you will see the most pleasing arrangement of the rattan and the detailing along the edge of the rattan. We ensure you will not find any gaps, cracks, or crannies where the rattan and wood join together.

The furniture in the CANE collection starts from our popular ‘CANE Chair-01‘. With a stunning design, the proper size, and undeniable strength, this chair is a favorite chair for the utility of many people’s houses and has been a Podium’s “trendsetter” chair since the collection launch in 2014. It is being used in hotels and restaurants worldwide and is still our best-seller product these days.

We came to a timeless beauty like ‘CANE Chair-04‘, another dining chair with a larger overall size than the previous model. With a large backrest that provides comfort and outstanding style, you’ll find the details of the wood and rattan work that Podium’s craftsmen meticulously crafted and are proud to showcase in this chair.

‘CANE Chair-05‘ is a dining armchair adding a great style to your dining area. Podium’s wood bending technique delivers its flowing line that runs from the backrest to the armrests on both sides, making its large backrest provide a unique sitting experience for all users. In addition, this chair comes with a shape that invites everyone to sit and has a timeless design that will make any space look more attractive.

Here is ‘CANE Table-02‘, one of our dining tables everyone adores because of the design that aims to make its legs look more handcrafted than usual industrial furniture pieces. By having a vent in the middle of the table for inserting wires from various electronic devices, this table can be used as a desk for your work from home day or office comfortably. Plus, there’s a great detail of the dovetail joints on the table legs that reflect the attention-to-detail manufacturing process from Podium.
